Day 1 – This was our longest day on the road. We headed out at 0300 just so we could make it out of Texas. We made it into Gallup by around 1900 that evening. It was a long time in the car, but we made a few stops.
Stonehenge II / Easter Island Heads (Ingram, TX) https://www.google.com/maps?q=loc:30.0721583,-99.2484917

Just outside of Kerrville, TX we came across this interesting spot. This was an art project by Al Sheppard and his friend/neighbor Doug Hill. If I remember correctly, this kind of started off as a joke, that just kept on going.
It was definitely neat to see in person.
Isaack Restaurant (Junction, TX)
This is a small, hometown, home cooked tasting food. It was like going to your friend’s grandparents house for lunch; it could be cleaner, but they were nice, friendly, and the food was good. Mind your manners!
International UDO Museum and Research (Roswell, NM)
This was a little disappointing. I mean, it was fun, but it seemed like a lot of the same thing over and over and over again. Roswell seems to exist solely due to the mystery of the Roswell crash.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s interesting.. it just felt more touristy than museum-y. It didn’t help that you couldn’t go anywhere without reference to aliens.
Peppers Grill and Bar (Roswell, NM)
This place was recommended to us by someone in one of the many gift shops in Roswell. The food was okay, the service was “sweet”, but you were in close proximity to every other patron, and you heard the same joke from the waitstaff over and over to each patron. It made everything feel scripted, and not like genuine customer service.
Tatum, NM
We stopped in Tatum, NM for some snacks. They had the best deal.
